I've been considering a roleplay topic, but I'm not too sure about it. I've had a few people tell me it sounds too complicated to use as a topic, but others say it will just take a couple of skilled people. Can you guys tell me what you think? It isn't highly descriptive, but this is what I have so far on it.
As of right now, I'm undecided on the year it's set in, whether present day or future. It's set on another planet (Ares) and Earth, at times. The Government on Ares has hired a few people to go and get children/adults from neighboring planets that were sent away years ago for reasons unknown.
The natural inhabitants of Ares, known as Risers, have a special ability to assume someones identity. Depending who they're trying to get close to, they can use the identity of the most trusted friend/relative to said person. Once they use that identity, it's automatic that they know all of the persons memories, personality, ect.
The drawback to this is that the longer they use it, the more they're pulled into this identity and they forget who they really are. Though this takes years to accomplish, it's something they keep an eye out for. They're unable to use a stolen identity if the person is in proximity to them. It's canceled out.
The main issue on Ares at the moment is that a young child/teenager has been brought back from Earth and with it, a sickness. Riser's born on Ares who never leave know nothing of being sick, it's absent from their planet. The Government is trying to negate a backlash from the natives over bringing back this child/teenager by hunting the person down.
They believe if they can find the person and study them, they can find a solution to the sickness that's spreading like wildfire across Ares.
Simultaneously, the people hired to retrieve the others from the planets become suspicious of why they, the people who were sent away, were sent away in the first place, and why their Government is suddenly interested in getting them back.
Oh, and one other thing. Assuming an identity is easy on Ares, as everyone's the same physically (meaning their internal makeup) but going to another planet means having to change that. So you can gather that it isn't quite nice when one planet's natives have more/less organs than a Riser D: They have to do something with them. Being bedridden for a few days to weeks to make an adjustment is normal.
So that's all I have so far What do you guys think?
